Welcome to the Balance of Gray

What is the “Balance of Gray”? It’s a realm where we choose to take what we believe to be true and sharpen that against what we discover to be true through seeking knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. Without the balance of gray, there’s a never-ending stalemate fueling extreme swings of the pendulum where people refuse to look below the surface where roots can either be cut, cultivated, or altogether non-existent. In the end, the only truth that remains is from God, and narrow is the road where that truth can be found. The Balance of Gray is the battle of Philippians 2:12 while balancing 2 Corinthians 6:17 & Luke 23:34 to accomplish the great commission. Please join the discussion as we strive to be Spirit-led in balancing the gray for the betterment of others and ourselves. And of course, let’s have a little fun along the way!

About The Balance of Gray

person standing with purpose

The main purpose of The Balance of Gray is to spread the gospel to as many people as possible. The truth is that Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, is coming back. Contrary to popular belief, this is not a fairy-tale or moral social club. The Balance of Gray also strives to be an effective avenue for existing believers to grow and sharpen themselves as God has blessed each soul with unique giftings, and it’s more important than ever for us to think outside the box in this information (and disinformation) age. We aim to inspire each individual to discover their unique approach to sharing the gospel with others.

2nd Cor 6:2:

“For he says, “In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”

Hands shaking in commitment

The BOG commitment is to fellow believers. While reaching out to the lost is a primary objective, and we do commit to engaging with and never giving up on anyone who is seeking, we must always remember that we are part of a family that takes care of each other. This is an important part of our witness, as stated in John 13:35. If you have any needs, prayer requests, or questions, please don’t hesitate to connect with us or a trusted believing confidant who can walk alongside you in your journey. God designed us to do life together as a unit, so it’s important to reach out if you need help discovering what that means. We are here to support you in any way we can.

Gal 6:10

“So then, while we have opportunity, let’s do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.”

people discussing with an open mind

One of the reasons the Balance of Gray came into existence is because of the current climate regarding how people are packaging religion. Organized religion is a term that has developed a very negative undertone in the last decade. Unfortunately, the baby gets thrown out with the bathwater when blanket statements are made without the proper context and understanding. There are, however, some deep reasons that organized religion has developed such a bad rap in recent years. Aside from the root cause driven by spiritual forces behind the scenes, there is a man-made source of presenting spiritual things in a tidy box where the idea of God and “church” can be nothing more than a platform to voice whatever a particular demographic wants to hear. When this practice happens, it peddles the word of God at best and makes war with God at worst. Either way, a manufactured replica of the real thing will always result in a stench where hypocrisy and manipulation overshadow the truth. Having an open mind in research, discussions, and interactions with others will slowly establish an iron-clad framework for anyone seeking truth. Of course, we must also remember that certain lines and boxes have been rightly constructed to keep what God has clearly established as an unmovable truth. Sometimes, the truth is stranger than fiction, and if we never allow ourselves to step out of the box we’ve been molded in, we will never connect specific dots that God wants us to connect. The Balance of Gray is where ANYONE with questions, concerns, experiences, or discoveries regarding the truth can openly engage on a level where honest and insightful discussions can be had.

Acts 17:11
“And the people of Berea were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, and they listened eagerly to Paul’s message. They searched the Scriptures day after day to see if Paul and Silas were teaching the truth.”

Prov 25:2
“It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, But the glory of kings is to search out a matter.”

How to know God?

Regardless of the experiences you may have had with “religion”, know that there is a deep truth that supports the following answers to this question. I hope you will join the discussions, ask the questions, and embrace the discoveries that you’ll find at the end of this age-old curiosity – How to know God:

Romans 10:9-10 – “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”

Ephesians 2:8-10 – “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

Matt 11:28 – “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”

1st John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

John 3:36 – “The one who believes in the Son has eternal life; but the one who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”

Acts 2:38 – “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

2nd Peter 3:9 – “The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”

The Authority behind these statements

John 8:58 – “…before Abraham was, I am.”

Steve - Your podcast host

Hello, here is a little bit about me:

My name is Stephen Stewart, and I was born and raised in Texas and came from a blue-collar family which stemmed from a missionary family. I was raised heavily involved in the church but strayed from my raising for the better part of my early life. To make a long story short, I spent a long time as an addict and alcoholic before the Lord reached down and saved me from myself at age 28. After several seasons of relapse, recovery, and re-learning who God was through the entire process, I ended up in some pretty unique and amazing situations as God started to show me how He truly does use the weak things of this world for His Purpose. After a full recovery from addiction, I went on to author and self-publish a book on apologetics, became a pastoral intern for 2 years, and then co-hosted the Snakebird Podcast for 2 years with my good friend Josh, who was a pastor for 17 years. I have had a strong pull in my heart over the last few years as I’ve juggled this “Balance of Gray” idea. As I have noticed the extreme, unbudging stances that so many people have taken in recent years, God finally sent me full peace about moving forward with the Balance of Gray Podcast as my small part in reaching this generation. At the end of the day, that’s the call for every believer – to follow God’s pull toward His unique purpose designed for each of us.
